  2. I have every sympathy for anyone living on the bread-line(should there be ANYONE on this`?)but there is a limit to what the taxpayers can be expected to subsitise!Anyway,its gonna be difficult to access blame in a case like this!Very sad.

  3. I don't disagree with you Don but had they lived in my area they would at least of had a fridge and their house refurnished to a reasonable standard. If not from RBL then from our Ex Services Association. I can't think why this didn't come up on Bedworth's radar, particularly in view of the Salvation Army's involvement. Very, very sad.

  4. This is such a diabolical situation that a man that has served his queen and country should end his days this way, someone should be taken to task for this tragedy. This saddens me greatly to think this could happen in this day and age

    I would say from experience having dealt with a similar case As Welfare Secretary for the Guernsey Branches , all Brown & White Goods
    any outstanding accounts Supplied and paid off , and the Legion would send them on a Break to the Sea,
    Problem Most of the OAP , and Us EX Service type s Will not ask , the answer is for US to keep our eyes open and tell the like of Myself

  6. A we bit extra Bedworth might not have a Wefare Office , but we are on the Web in the Phone book and the Police know where we are
    along with Sally Ann , Age concern ect

There seems to be something funny about this case, if we believe what the DWP say that they were receiving weekly benefits since Feb 2010, including disability and caring responsibilities as well as out of work support and they have not had any complaints from them about there benefit claim, so who are we to believe, surely if this bloke had anything about him he should have known that if he made contact with the RBL he could have had help from them. Maybe I have got this all wrong will look forward to response from members.

  8. Mike is absolutely correct - most Ex Service types will not ask! And even if they did, RBL would not become involved until they'd explored every other avenue, such as their local councilor etc, etc. Even if RBL did become involved, by the time he'd filled in all the "very necessary PC forms" and submitted them to county, and county had then submitted them them HQ, wintertime would have become summertime !! NO, that's why we re-formed our Ex Services Association so that we can deal with local cases like these instantly. Although Citizens advice bureau should have sorted out their joint entitlement to benefits. (As you all know, I'm not a one for all this political correctness, not as far as getting the job done is concerned.)

I totally agree with John & Stan on this one having been involved with Social Services I was amazed at what we had to provide for the out side-rs as John puts it, were as the elderly who had lived and worked all their lives here had to take it or leave it, But there is so much help out their, but I'm afraid a lot of our elderly are just to proud to ask for help and if they are offered they refuse.
