Welcome to John Kelly

Welcome to the BB John, I think that you will find a few comrades that you served with in the fifties on the BB.

journal 2011

from PAUL STRETTON

Dear Member of The Blues and Royals Association,

The next edition of the Household Cavalry Journal will be published early 2011. The Journal covers the year 1 January 2010 – 31 December 2010. I’m sure that you will agree that the input of articles by members of the Associations have enhanced its content over the last several years and are much appreciated. I strongly encourage you to submit articles and photographs of your experiences and events whilst serving for the benefit of all who receive and read the Journal.

The LG and RHG/D Association Secretaries will be responsible for producing inputs to the editor on articles from the members and old comrades of the Associations.

The format for the Journal will be similar to last year’s edition however, it is hoped that the articles in general will be shorter and with more photographs. If you have an article to submit, it should be of no more that 700 words, (preferably in Word format) and accompanied by photos with separate text (not on the back) explaining what, where and who the image is depicting. Acronyms should, where possible, be avoided. Quality is preferable to waffle.

In principle, your articles should be submitted to the Association Secretaries at the address below or by e-mail as soon as possible and where possible submissions should not wait until the deadline which is 30 November 2010.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Poem of an Old Soldier....

No longer do I see my friends who marched by my side,

No longer can I hear the sound of voices raised with pride.

As we marched off down the road to WHATEVER lay in store,

Had I a choice of comrades I could not ask for more.

We set off then, that autumn day,not knowing what lay ahead.

Just young men who had NO choice,we went with flags unfurled,so that our kin could again rejoice in peace throughout the world.

I came back,I don`t know how,to see my folks again, but I pray to God my children, you will never experience the same.

By..Robert Smith ..of Leeds.

THE ROYAL DRAGOONS REGIMENTAL COLLECT

O God, in whose sight all creatures are manifest and to who eyes all things that are open, grant that the works Thou requirest of the 1st The Royal Dragoons may never be done to be seen of men, but always for Thy Glory, and that, waiting on Thee to renew our strength, we mount up with the wings as eagles at thy word, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
