I have been trying to get Reg on the phone for three weeks and I finaly got him today,he told me that he has been in hospital and only came out yesterday, I am not sure what he was in for but as I say he is now back at home and feeling fine. If anyone has got his Phone no maybe they would like to give him a bell.

Promotion
Hello,
Greetings. I have been wondering how one obtained promotion through the ranks in our regiment. I only did National Service in the Royals and served in Egypt and Germany. I don't recall any fellow National Service man being promoted from Trooper to Lance Corporal, I was in HQ Squadron, perhaps some lads were promoted in other squadrons.
If one one wanted to make a career in the military and quite naturally wanted to experience advancement, what did one have to do? Were there courses that could be taken that made one eligible for promotion? Or, did it depend on an Officer or a senior NC0 noting one's character and skills and then their putting forward your name for promotion? If so, what characteristics would they have been looking for in an individual?
Don't quite know why this topic crossed my mind, but I thought that it would be interesting to hear your views.

new way to loose weight.
Just escaped from the rehab clinic at Bad Meinberg ,if ever any of my fellow expats in germany get offered the chance to go there .DON'T . there are lots of better places like
Belsen and auschwitz after a OP on my pancreas. followed 8 days later with the removal of my stomach I was sent there where they gave me at first the wrong food which upset me so much that I was bedridden for 5 days and unable to eat. I was given the wrong treatment. and left the place in a worse state that I was in when I got there. and had to go to E & A at our local hospital it was discovered that I now have a ruptured navel. (anybody got an old penny and a bit of elastoplast )?
It seems there were a lot of birthdays in march at the moment my alcohol drink must be no more than 14% vol and no more than 50 ml .that is one schnapps glass of sherry and one of port Gents to your health. and after such a long time without I shall probably be a little pi**ed perhaps that is the best first step back to normality.
I've lost 19 kilos. and they said I didn't have the Guts to diat. Frank

I must sadly report that Lt Col George E Evans OBE ARCM psm (85years) who served with the Band of The Royal Dragoons and the Band of The Blues and Royals between April 1966 - December 1982, passed away on Monday, 21 March 2011.
Lt Col George Evans had been the Director of Music for Bands of The Royal Dragoons and then The Blues and Royals when he held the appointment between1974-1977. He had also been the Senior Director of Music for the Army School of Music, Kneller Hall.
The sincere condolences of the Association go to his widow Joy, daughter Jane and family at this very sad time. The family wish to have a private family funeral with a Memorial Service for friends and colleagues at a later date, details of which will be passed when known.
THE BLUES AND ROYALS REGIMENTAL COLLECT
O Lord Jesus Christ who by the Holy Apostle has called us to put on the armour of God and to take the sword of the spirit, give thy grace we pray thee, to the Blues and Royals that we may fight manfully under thy banner against all evil, and waiting on thee to renew our strength, may mount up with wings as eagles, in thy name, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Denis was taken into hospital yesterday as he had been having chest pains, I phoned his wife Jean last night and she said that he was having tests done and that he may have to go and have a stent inserted,

Reunion 2011
Will all members please note the costing for this years reunion will be £8 per person, which will comprise of £5 for buffet £2 for the charity and £1 towards the poppy wreath and flowers for Ann Taylor for covering the service at the NMA on the Sunday.
I am going to ask members for there suggestions this year as to which charity they wish the proceeds to go to, Doug Best will be doing the raffle for the charity of his choice so do the members going to the reunion wish to put the money in with Dougs or Help For Hero's, other suggestions that members can put forward will be appreciated.
I will be sending out Email to those on computers with my home address to send their cheques and phone those that do not have a computer, Can all members please let me have their cheques before the end of May, if anyone cannot attend please let me know before the end of May as after then their money will not be able to be refunded.
