Another well organised Band Reunion at Dumbleton Hall this year. It being the 29th October meant we all got an extra hours lay-in in the morning at the hotels expense! Slightly down on numbers due to "absent friends" but it was good to see Pete Watts again from the USA.
Names added Don but don't show up in Slideshow mode! A number of the band couldn't make it so altogether there were about 20 of us this year. "Jenks" was a national serviceman at Wesendorf, Pete Watts (Sgt) left the Royals in Detmold, Bill Bason N/S Malaya as was Alan Warwick. Roger Riley was the infamous bandsman that accidentally sliced through the tow-rope with a Bren gun from the bridge of HMS Chawton during RN exercises off Borneo - and nearly got us all thrown overboard! Anymore photos that come to surface I'll add later, I can't think somebody didn't take a photograph of me!
Finally, word has it the band of the Blues & Royals is 'likely' to amalgamate with the band of the Life Guards to form just one band called "The Household Cavalry Band" So it looks like the name "Royals" is to disappear forever, as far as the bands are now concerned.
Thanks Stan for the chance to see what we missed last weekend. The next best thing to being there.Must try harder next year.Still waiting for our new grandson to appear, but busy babysitting his 3yr old sister.Ken&Jen

Hopefully the Royals Badge will remain on the Uniform & Guidon?.
ReplyDeleteQuestion, Re- Pete Watts what part of the States does he reside please. I live just outside Boston Massachusetts.
