THE PASSING OF TEX RAINGER

I must sadly report that 23490742 WO1 PD (Tex) Rainger died suddenly at home in Sheffield on Saturday 4 February 2012. He served with The Royal Dragoons and The Blues and Royals between 1957 and 1979. Following his Regimental career he went to work with the TA and cadets up to when he retired in 2000. The condolences of the Association go to his widow, family and friends at this difficult time.

funeral service for the late WO1 "Tex" Rainger who served with The Royal Dragoons and The Blues and Royals between 1957 and 1979 and died suddenly at home in Sheffield on Saturday 4 February 2012, will be held on Friday 17 February at 2.45p.m. at Grenoside Crematorium, 5 Skew Hill Lane, Grenoside, Sheffield S35 8RZ. Family flowers, Donations if desired to Help For Heroes or Royal National Lifeboat institute.
The family would welcome any Association members or colleagues to the service

O Lord Jesus Christ who by the Holy Apostle has called us to put on the armour of God and to take the sword of the spirit, give thy grace we pray thee, to the Blues and Royals that we may fight manfully under thy banner against all evil, and waiting on thee to renew our strength, may mount up with wings as eagles, in thy name, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

  2. Very sorry to hear this news. Tex was the troop Sargent when I was in Recce. I know that at times he could be scathing but also could be an understanding person. I respected him for his achievements while he was in recce troop.
    I always thought that he went out to Canada, but obviously I was wrong. Have any of you any info on what happened to Lt Coode who was the troop officer at the same time. I know that Tex and Lt Coode were close as friends as well as colleagues.

    Nice bloke .Often wondered what happened to him.

  12. I remember tex well,you couldn't mistake that crew cut,very sad loss,might be the age thing but despite serving 7 years with your L.A.D.there are a lot of names i struggle with to remember.

  17. Another LOYAL ROYAL,he was my Ttp Cpl in Aden,big blonde guy well liked by everyone,
    Had a great time when we went ski ing he kept us laughing from day one.#Rest in Peace TEX.

    to get in touch with him for years..

  22. We had some good times together. We climbed the ranks together and he beat me in the regimental heavy weight boxing final on points. A great pal and never to be forgotten.

  24. If Tex had gone to the Para Sqn RAC he could have taken the short route in 66 /67 when light armoured trained personnel were recruited.
