:Here is a programme of events to be held at the NMA on Tuesday 11th November,(tomorrow).
Armistice Day 2008 - Tuesday 11 November
Commemorations for the 90th anniversary of the Armistice will commence at 10.00 am with well known tunes of the WWI years, performed by the Band of HM Royal Marines, Plymouth. His Royal Highness Honorary Rear Admiral Prince Michael of Kent GCVO RNR and Her Royal Highness Princess Michael of Kent will attend.
The service of remembrance will be held on the Armed Forces Memorial (AFM) and led by former Bishop to the Armed Forces, Right Reverend John Kirkham and assisted by Reverend Simon Lumby, (Honorary Chaplain to the NMA).
A flypast (subject to weather conditions) will acknowledge the 90th anniversary of the Royal Air Force at the commencement of the Parade.
Please note that this is a ticketed event and has been fully subscribed.
The Armed Forces Memorial will be closed to the general public until 12.30 pm. Meanwhile a screen will relay the proceedings to the Leonard Cheshire Amphitheatre for non-ticket holders who are most welcome to attend. Seating will not be provided.
A park and ride scheme will operate from Catton Hall and cost £2 per vehicle (coaches free). All visitors on the day should allow sufficient time to park 2 miles away and still arrive at the NMA no later that 10.00am. Those not arriving on time may have difficulty on getting in.
There is limited space available at the Arboretum for disabled Blue Badge holders (free of charge). There will be no parking on the roadsides surrounding the Arboretum as this will be enforced by Staffordshire Police.
The North Staffs Branch of The Household Cavalry Association will be holding a Remembrance service at The Blues and Royals plot at 11.30.
This is to give ample time for those attending coming from any distance s there may be a queue to get in.
NB.THE TICKET EVENT IS FOR THE REMEMBRANCE SERVICE AT THE ARMED FORCES MEMORIAL ONLY.
