Due to unforseen circumstance`s,I have to inform EVERYONE that the service I WAS going to do on the 8.11 2008,has had to be cancelled,But our Chaplain is ALMOST certain she will be free to hold it on Tuesday the 11th of November,that is as long as a funeral does not come along then I will be able to do it,hope this has not COCKED up too many plans BUT I just cannot do it on the first date,if someone else wishes to do it on the Saturday PLEASE go ahead.

Christmas Cards

Dear Blues & Royals Commitiee Members.

It would be nice to be able to purchase a Christmas Card showing a Royal Dragoon. I frame all my cards and send cards to all my friends but to date they are all showing Royal Horse Guards and Blues and Royals. It would be nice for all ex Royals to be able to purchase a card showing a Royal Dragoon also a Blue and a Royal together.

I am sure there are lots of paintings of both Regiments that could be used.

MSN Groups

MSN Groups will be closing on February 21, 2009. It'll be replaced with a new service, Windows Live Groups, which debuts on November 17.

Here's the catch: The LiveSide post indicates MSN Groups will not be migrating to Windows Live Groups; the new Windows Live service will be different enough so that the transition wouldn't be a clean one. Instead, the LiveSide post says that existing MSN Groups will transition to community site Multiply--in other words, Multiply is effectively acquiring MSN Groups from Microsoft.

Representatives from Multiply, which said earlier this month that it has reached 10 million registered users, confirmed the news. Microsoft representatives released a longer statement: "It is true that we are planning to close the MSN Groups service on February 21, 2009 and will offer you the opportunity to move your group to our new partner service, Multiply. We understand the importance of keeping your group together, so we partnered with Multiply to create a migration process that moves your group to their service to preserve your online community and its history.

I've decided that at last I'm going round the twist. I've obviously led Derek on a wild goose chase about an aircraft crash in the Med in 1950 when no trace of the incident is recorded anywhere. Then the first inkling I get about other things witnessed on the trip was a message posted by Don Mallinder outlining them. I was about to reply to Don but I can't find his message, either on this BB or the other one. Am I imagining that as well? Please somebody HELP!.

      I saw you reply saying that you were on the 'Empress of Australia' but I can't bring it up again. Anyway, do you remember the incident in the Med when we had to stop to pick up survivers from an aircraft crash? At least that's what's in my mind . There were other ships there including a warship. I've looked through the web for an account of a crash at that time but without success.

Is it all in my mind or did it really happen?.

I am sad to report the death of Douglas Alfred (Dickie) Clark who served as a Cpl with the 1st Royal Dragoons 1937-45. He passed away yesterday near Prestatyn North Wales at the age of 88 years. Our condolences have been passed to his widow and family at this difficult time.

Remember Tom Sparks??

I have just returned from a tour to Torquay with a Bowls Club from Rochester, Kent and had the pleasure of meeting an ex Royal,  Tom Sparks, now in his 80s.  Tom served from 1938 to 1946 in Palestine and was a fuel bowser driver that resupplied the Recce Troop.  When Tom first went to Palestine it was still cavalry and whilst there they were mechanised to armoured cars.  He had some amazing stories to tell about the transition.  If anyone knows anyone that might remember Tom then please contact me and I'll put them in touch.  I truly remarkable Gent. Sorry to let you know the Passing of another royal, it is a bit late but i have just found out myself.

Jeff and i joined in 1964 August together as we were cousin's he served untill amalgamation and transfered to 4/7th dragoon .

He was a big mate with Spud Murphy and spent all his service in MT.

He passed away a couple of years ago by all acounts.
