Fred Those were the days, every boat from Harwich to the Hook of Holland had sank during a trip, that is what everyone said as soon as you got on board, coming back it was prisoners and escorts first regards Yorky
We brought prisoners back from Bielefeld Glasshouse to Harwich in late 1949, then on to Shepton Mallet or Lincoln . Crossed in force 9 storm, don't remember which ship, but everybody except one of escort was violently seasick. If the old tub had sunk we wouldn't have cared! There's another story about the bloke I was handcuffed to on the way to Lincoln nick! Harold.
