Ah now that brings back memories,with the Battle of Britain going on overhead,picking up empty shell and bullet cases,lumps of schrapnel from thr AA guns,running to meet the shot down pilots descending on their chutes,one who I thought was a German turned out to be a Pole,even the Home guard,armed with pitchforks took him away under close guard.Shame though that we still can't sleep safely in our own little beds again!!!! ------- Don
Ah I remember the kit outside the front door for dealing with incendaries,stirrup pump,bucket of water,bucket of sand,and if you had any sense you added the Bible too!Not much help though when the V1 fell on the allotments opposite. ----- Don

never did get a shell case,got a unexploded incendiary bomb only to get it get it taken away by an ARP warden shades of Hodges in Dads Army.
