give us our england back

Goodbye to my England, So long my old friend
Your days are numbered, being brought to an end
To be Scottish, Irish or Welsh that's fine
But don't say you're English, that's way out of line.

The French and the Germans may call themselves such
So may Norwegians, the Swedes and the Dutch
You can say you are Russian or maybe a Dane
But don't say you're English ever again.

At Broadcasting House the word is taboo
In Brussels it's scrapped, in Parliament too
Even schools are affected, staff do as they're told
They must not teach children about England of old.

Writers like Shakespeare, Milton and Shaw
The pupils don't learn about them anymore
How about Agincourt, Hastings , Arnhem or Mons ?
When England lost hosts of her very brave sons.

We are not Europeans, how can we be?
Europe is miles away over the sea
We're the English from England , let's all be proud
Stand up and be counted - Shout it out loud !

Let's tell our Government and Brussels too
We're proud of our heritage and the Red, White and Blue
Fly the flag of Saint George or the Union Jack
Let the world know - WE WANT OUR ENGLAND BACK !!!!

  2. You are absolutely right. My father fought in both world wars on the Somme and Dunkirk. My older brothers were also in the army serving in korea, palastine, and other conflicts, and myself a regular in the Royals. what for. Only to be dictated too by the faceless scum bags in europe who we were the main reason we went to war in the first place. I will never be or want to be a european. GORDON BROWN and your henchmen give us our country back.

  3. Well Said, I believe we have all had enough of this PC nonsense, I note one council is up in arms in the south of the UK because the BNP have gained a seat on the local council.

  4. I sympathise with John's sentiments since I believe that everyone should take pride in and celebrate their nationality.
However I take issue with him ,and the others, in apportioning the blame for not being able to do so at someone elses door. It reminds me of a time, many years ago when, if an Englishman was asked he they never celebrated St. Georges Day, as for instance the Irish do on St. Patrick's Day, the rerply was " We don't to need to, we are English"
What has happened to the that confidence?- or some would say arrogance. Most of the countries mentioned in the poem have celebrated their Nationality even in their darkest days not just when they were on top. I think you need to think deeper for your answer.

  5. Times have changed for us all, whether we like it or not.A united Europe is the only way forward for us in this unstable world,we Brits did our share of ugly things in the past, along with other countries that did far worse. But we cannot live in hate for those past days, think how long our western civilized countries have now lived in peace with each other, war amounst us is now impossible,so at least we have acheived something for our children, their children and so on.So let us look forward to the future which was generated by our fathers, grandfathers etc,who gave their lives and health in the hope that Europe would become a better place to live. And I do not know how this feeling about "losing our nationality" arises, there are no plans for such stupidity, and I'm pretty sure these feelings are echoed by all member states of the EC,whatever nationality they are!You are either a full member of the European community,or if not then you should opt out and stop quibbling!
Just the way I see it!
British - but I hope a good European!

  6. I agree in principle with Don, but I also think that you can be part of an organisation without losing your individuality. The problem which John refers to is the denial of his right to proclaim his heritage. This is, I believe, because of the new concept of 'Multiculturalism' whereby the indiginous people of England are expected to deny their traditions while embracing those of the incomer. In the past immigrants were expected to conform to the laws of the land and respect its traditions and most integrated without many problems.Nowadays the emphasis is reversed and is causing the native people to turn to the extremists which,as history shows, is a very dangerous path. And the answer? Wave the flag madly and shout like hell.

  7. Paddy may I point out that although I posted this poem it does not mean that they are my thoughts, this was sent to me and I decided to post it on the BB to see what peoples reactions would be.

  9. I as an English man am some what dumbfounded, that the peoples of Great Britain have fought for a long time to rid our political system of corruption, and nearly succeeding, to then hand over our country to the biggest corrupt body on the planet. I do not believe that anyone would join a company that has refused to audit their books for 16 years, that the top 20 positions are non electable (Jobs for Life and passed on to their own successors) can't be elected in or out of position have an open cheque book as a wage, and do as they wish with total impunity, and that is what the Labour party has done for this country.... I am glad I will be Dead and gone soon enough.
