Well, for any of you who hav'nt twigged yet,its just round the corner. So I thought it would be interesting to tell each other how we do things.
The big day here,as most of you know,is Christmas Eve.All the family arrive late afternoon, put their presents under the tree, then exchange greetings and presents to the music of Silent Night. In the meantime the lady of the house(my Edith)has prepared a sumptious meal of Veal cooked in a certain way.So all is peaceful for a couple of hours, and its usually the next morning when they go home.On Christmas day we have our dinner as in UK,I make the starter of prawn salad with avocado, then comes the fresh turkey with stuffing and chestnuts, roast spuds, brussels and parsnips, with cranberry sauce. We used to love Xmas pud afterwards, but after bursting nearly several times we now,for those with room, have an iced medley. All this of course with the Port and wines that help it all down. After the guests are all gone we collapse into the armchairs and doze for a few hours. And guess whats on the menu for the next few days,YEP,its TURKEY,and we doctor it up in different ways to get rid of it!
But for New Year we are gonna live it up in the mountains and be waited on.So now is a good time for us to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and a prosporous but more importantly,a healthy New Year.
Don and Edith
