  6. Ask any musician worth his while if he/she thinks those bugles sound rough and they will tell you what they think. Ask a bugler the same question and he/she will tell you fantastic. Bugles were made for sounding calls, one bugler at a time. The same goes for cavalry trumpets. Both these instruments were never intended to be played with bands/ orchestras or any other musical set ups.
    You may find that some infantry bandsmen carry a bugle as well as playing their band instrument ie: the drummers. Most if not all are drawn from the Regiment and that is the only instrument they play, however they do not play on a daily basis as do the Band. One on its own can,if played well,sound good but more than three non musical soldiers playing the same tune sound rough and fifty or more sound excruciatingly painfull. If you are non musical or tone deaf you will find it hard to understand what I am saying from a musical point of view.
