Voice from down under

Helloooo......it is I....yes Jenny Bob...just letting you all know that I am still around, alive and full of mischief as ever.  I'm still renovating and that is keeping me busy and out of trouble but I find I am becoming grumpy and fed up with it all.  Must say though, it is all looking good and once finished I'll feel good about it.

Well that's it from me at the moment.....you all know that saying "no rest for the wicked" so it's back to work for me ....lol.

  2. well heres another voice from down under in case my many friends may have wondered were i was,I am into my 3rd week of my 2nd trip to this wonderful country,I also have an added bonus by having as mine host Jenny and staying at her family home,She is as she states in her post alive and well! And i can assure you the The Michief and Humour is as real as ever,The problem is i was promised a relaxed break! But between you and i ! I Havé not worked so hard for years !!!!But true to her word our Jen as come up trumps she has taken me everywhere I have asked her to show me. Last Friday I took Jenny to dinner to meet Eric and Sue Lane who are in holidaying for a number of weeks in Australia and Eric had the occasion to be in Brisbane to meet distant relatives that he has not met before. Earlier in the day he had met up with Tony Boon and Nigel Reed. There is an amusing incident I would to relate to you. I casually mentioned to Jenny how hot and humid it was during the tropical storms that last a few days in the season, I was immediately branded by our Jenny as a whinging pom (being a roughy, toughy soldier that I was I didn't tell her of the monsoons in Malaya. A couple of days later Jenny and I flew off to Tasmania for 4 days which for both of us was a history lesson after going to Port Arthur to see the original convicts prison where they were first landed. We had an occasion to be fortunate enough to drive up to the top of Mount Wellington (this was my revenge on Jenny re being called a pom, bearing in mind I left London in a snow storm) and low and behold on top of Mt Wellington there was snow, ice, wind and mist that equalled the weather in London. My smart little Aussie friend who hasn't been in the snow since leaving Germany as a tiny little girl, I let her wonder to the summit in her summer clothes and locked the car doors with the heater full on and let her freeze her little fingers and aussie butt off, runny red nose shaking like a leaf pleading with the pom to let her in the car. Until she apologised 66 times I then let her in looking like a drowned rat and she vowed never to call me a whinging pom again. I quite surprised myself, I didn't realise I could be so cruel to my colonial friend but as I rather like her and I was staying at her place for a few days I told her from the bottom of my heart I was sorry because she threatened if I did not open the car door she would send me to the YMCA when we got back to Brisbane. Photos of said runny red nose when I get home just in case she never lets me back again.

  6. Fred,
Must be building up the old "miles and MORE" - did you make a sudden decision to GO,win the pools,or just longed for a change of scenery!Any way have a good time, suprised that Jen can tear herself away from visiting that little gal and motor you around Aus!And don't forget to help with the decoration, give my regards to all down there, keep your eyes open, you might bump into my little brother,I won't give you his address as he's not exactly sociable - was never in the Army, let alone the Royals.Watch out for those croc's - I see they've had a couple of kids in the last few weeks,no "skinny dipping" in the billabong!
