This photo was again taken at Chester in December 1950 & although there is snow on the side the paradeground looks clear - someone was very busy! Beside the King is the commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel Roderick Heathcoat Amory - I do not know the name of the officer with his back to the camera. To my knowledge I have nver before seen this photograph. The other officer I believe is the King's ADC, who was from the Greys. Bandrat
I was on the parade but cant place the other officer
ReplyDeleteI was there too,and definately remember shovelling snow!Good old days eh - Officers in Gaitors!!!!!

I've no idea who the Officers in question were, but we commented on the snow clearence which took place on the other site some time ago. When His Majesty left the parade ground he had tea with the WO's in the mess and that the youngest in the regiment Sgt. would also be invited.Although the King did have tea in the mess, I, to my dissapointment was not invited.Prior to the day when it was announced the this would take place SSM. Charlie Palmer let it be known that he would nick the cup from which the King drank. It was said later that one of the other WO's switched cups and Charlie ended up with a different one from that he meant to take.
