I was there from 1951 to 54 and the Lido was there then. As for the Sweet Water canal that was built with the Suez Canal to provde water for the Suez Canal builders.The Lido was part of the Bitter Lakes. Mike Pugh.
Probably the Lido had no fish in it as I used to hang my rod in the Canal.I did have a pal stationed at TEK who fell into the Sweet Water canal and had to have a whole series of innoculations as the canal was reckoned to harbour every desease under the sun!!! ----- Don
I remember the sweet water canal and what happened to you if you fell in,but I don't think the Lido existed then!

I remember the lido at Fayid had many a good day there, in 1951 to 1953 walked back to Balaclava camp on many occasions brings back old memories.
