I know who the central figure is but does anyone know who the other 2 Royal Dragoons were? I have to admit they do seem familiar but remembering that I did not join the Regiment until 1966. Bandrat
Come on - someone - my curiosity's gotta be satisfied - someone must know the name of the Cpl in the middle,at first I thought it was Beeforth, but its not,if I remember he worked long time in QMs dept. Whats his name-his name -his name!!!!!!!!! HELP ---- Don
Maj Lewis (spud) thats the man who signed me up in London and issued me with a train ticket to Catterick. My intake was 16/?? and the instructors on D&M Were Sgt white (chalky) & Cpl Mullins (Paddy) Both Royals so I was in very good hands.
Major Lewis was still recruiting in 1966 as he took me to Kneller Hall where I had an audition, which I passed allowing me to join the Royals Band - happy days!
Yep! More I look at the photo, more I can see that! The photo must have been taken a few years BEFORE I knew Stan Hildred- I was used to seeing him in denimsthandressed up!
What I remember about Stan Hildred is that he was something of a loner who said very little but was a rock to be relied upon when one was stuck for someone to perform a task at short notice. Paddy
I recall Stan Hildred from the QM's Dept, Detmold, around 1966. He had a thing about the Church which found itself in a room above the Cookhouse/Kitchen at Hobart Barracks. I once was mad enough to accompany him on a bike tour to Bielefeld, to the church there-don't know why, but it was a bloody long way!
They look very familiar to me too, but I think they were "updated" to Sgts/SQMS by `66.
ReplyDeleteIncidentally - is RSM Clark still alive - does anyone know..?
EDDY ROOKE AND SPUD LEWIS
