Where is everyone

Have all our members gone into hibernation or have they deserted and gone onto facebook now, come on everyone has all your memories of your service days dried up, there must be someone out there that has got something to say even if it is a load of cobblers,so come on use it or lose it don't just leave to the same people all of the time.

where if you were coming down to go to the POL Point you would right stick to follow on
But if you where in the Hanger and had to reverse out with out a mate to guide you and that
little black baby was ? well its history now , it ended up a Wedge shape . Now over to you
    did you squash IT

  7. Nice to hear from you again chaps, you are right Paddy I look in on the other site at times and it seems to be the same on there, I am busy getting the reunion sorted with help from Derek & Denis, I have some members informing me that they are unable to attend so then if they have not cancelled their room I need to do that and replace them with someone on the list that is looking for a room, Pleased to see that mac334 is enjoying the Spanish sunshine while we are toiling away here.

  13. John when you go on Facebook or Skype you can see who else is logged on. You can then speak /write to them instantly. You don't have to post and then wait ages for a reply. Is such a feature possible on Multiply.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Ian,
There is no IM on Multiply, I see what you are saying but i don't think it would make much difference, if you did not have people logged in for a while then they would not know what the subjects were that were being discussed and it would mean having to go over old ground.

  17. I think the better weather might have something to do with the "radio silence" lately. I have certainly been catching up with some work both in the garden and on the house. My wife always cringes when I go all DIY as a couple of years ago I cut the ends of two fingers off. Pinderfields hospital at Wakefield did a very good job of putting them back on and apart from the m feeling very cold they are ok.I do recall a little accident at Wesendorf when I slipped on top of a scout car and fell on my face right on to a small aerial sticking up and it went right through my cheek. Tom Coan drove me down to MI rooms and it was stitched. I can still see small scar today. There was a really tall orderly there, must have been about 6 feet three but his name eludes me. Any one remember him John

  20. It does seem that a number of members have been busy now the weather has improved, I have been in my allotment quite a bit lately so I have only been able to come on at night, I do not watch the TV much so that is when I and my two assistants discuss BB issues and keep on top of the list for the reunion. It seems that General Barney White-Spunner will be attending the service on the 19th June at the NMA and I have been informed that Paul Stretton is still working on getting a trumpeter to attend also.

  28. A good response John. So everybody, let this be more than a one off. I'm not into the likes of facebook and would rather talk to a general audience ,if you'd like to call it that. It's a matter of keeping going our association with each other and take an interest in how we are all living since we served together. There are a few of us who are staring into that six foot black hole and others who are standing back from it and others still for whom that time has yet to come. So, while we can, have a chat to each other about no matterr what and no one will laugh at you unless you want them to ..Read some of the rubbish I put up. If some of it amuse anyone ,then great.Have a laugh.

  51. Has anyone heard the maxim' Silence is golden'. Fellows , we should be giving thought to the here and now, not to the fact that some of you are awaitng for Godot. For instance ,have we who were born in the late 20's and 30's,realised that we are the Lucky Generation. Just look into the near future and what a muddled world our grandchildren are going to inherit. This year we are going to celebrate our regiments 350 yrs of sevice, we all, I am sure ,are proud to have contributed to part of that service. Let's all try to put right tomorrows world for our Kiddies Don

  54. I'd heard that depression was on the increase.goodness the last 3 entries ! you are not what thomas hardy would have called his darkling thushes are you .and who on earth would wait for Godot ,he never did turn up.and what a depressing play that is. completely without rhyme or reason how are we,in the prime of our senility ,going to put tomorrows world right. no way leave it to our kids and grandchildren they are more capable than we ever were.trust them.look at the world today they have already discovered people power. politicians can no longer do as they please.nor the churches nor soon will the multi conglomerates be allowed to it will only get better as it did with our generation and the ones before.look outside its spring, sit out in your garden one sunny evening and listen to the sun going down

  55. would still like to find the M.T driver who drove me to Wertagh in germany 67 i think for skiing when the bedford broke down just outside Frankfirt & the yanks towed us to there camp (Drakes Casern) stuck for 3 days until REME boys came to fix the wagon.Had a great time so did the driver. Swapped my ACC badge for a pair of yanki combat boots rubbish could have got more with a Royals badge!!.

  56. Can anyone remember when we did a scheme in Germany down in the Yanky zone. They wanted to house us in one of their barracks, the Colonel took one look and said "my soldiers are used to roughing it outside - and thats where they are gonna sleep"Had a look inside that barracks myself , talk about "bull"!No wonder the CO got cold feet!

  57. Yes,. To-morrows world for to-morrows people and visa- versa. Let us sit back on our laurals or what- ever and as you say, sit out and listen to the Sun going down

  58. The only scheme I remember with the Yanks was one against the French. I and my A/C got taken prisoner by the French and I was out of action for 24 hrs . I spent the night with the French and during a conversation the matter of cap badges came up. I was a bit apprehensive when I had to tell them that my badge was a captured French eagle ,but they said that they considered it an honour that we should prize our capture so much as to have it as our cap badge . From there on a vast quantity of wine appeared and a great time was had by all.

I was in France one year and nearly started WW3 in St Malo.It was Bastille day, parked the car,and a group of frenchies asked me about the Eagle car badge on the car. When I educated them I could see they been on the Vino,so discretion being the better part of valour we depated for the docks and our boat!
Lovely weather in Detmold, and the weekend forcast is GREAT!Might just BBQ!
