THE BLUES AND ROYALS REGIMENTAL COLLECT

O Lord Jesus Christ who by the Holy Apostle has called us to put on the armour of God and to take the sword of the spirit, give thy grace we pray thee, to the Blues and Royals that we may fight manfully under thy banner against all evil, and waiting on thee to renew our strength, may mount up with wings as eagles, in thy name, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

  5. I am saddened to read of the death of George Evans a man whom I admired. Not only was he a superb Bandmaster but a great showman. He put on some super band concerts. He was also a terrific trumpet player and we compared him with the great international trumpet player , Eddie Calvert. I feel sure that George is 'up there' leading the way with the heavenly choirs and harpists.
    May He Rest In Peace.

  9. Bandmaster George Evans psm, as he was known to members the Royals band - A Bandmaster who clearly possessed all the necessary attributes to take him to the very top of his profession.

    Two rare photographs of George:

One of the earliest taken at Wesendorf in 1957. George liked to give his own 8va (Octave higher) version of Eddie Calvert's "Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White" in the Sergeants mess, for which he became most popular. As the band didn't possess any trumpets of its own (all privately owned) he'd always 'nick' mine to play it on!

Taken during a marching display in Manila 1962. George talking to Manila’s Chief Fire Officer, with the Fire Brigade's band looking on in the background. Our man from the Embasy to the right. (We were never quite sure if that Policeman was going to shoot him or not!)

    Affectionately remembered.

My Condolences to Joy and the family.

    Stan Whitworth (Royals Band 1955-1963)
