I must sadly report the death on 17 January 2011 of 318014 Trooper John McGuinness (93) who served with the Royal Dragoons from January 1938 to January 1945.
He was serving with The Royal Dragoons in Palestine when WWII broke out and was subsequently captured and held as a PoW in Germany for over 4 years. He was always proud of his service with the Regiment and maintained his links with the Association.
A funeral service will be held Our Lady of the Assumption RC Church Tile Hill Lane, Coventry CV4 9TA on Friday 28th January at 9 a.m. Any Association members able to attend would be welcomed by his family.
The condolences of the Association go to his widow and daughter at this difficult and sad time.
THE ROYAL DRAGOONS REGIMENTAL COLLECT
O God, in whose sight all creatures are manifest and to whose eyes all things are open,
grant that the works Thou requirest of the 1st The Royal Dragoons may never be done to be seen of men,
but always for Thy Glory, and that, waiting on Thee to renew our strength,
we mount up with wings as eagles at Thy word, through Jesus Christ Our Lord.
