Hi John,
These are spam bots that are obtaining User ID's at random. We've put some measures in place to prevent these going forward, but like with many spammers, they continually change their methods. We're still working on a permanent solution, so for now just make sure you don't click on anything in a message sent from someone you don't know, and report the user ID to customer service.
Thanks.
- Jack
thanks John
ReplyDeleteThanks John there seems to be a number of scams a round at the moment. One in particular Is were card is posted through your door from a company called P.D.S.(Parcel Delivery Service.)suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number). DO NOT call this number, as it is a mail scam originating from Belize. If you ring this number you will hear a recorded message and you will already have been billed £315 for the call. IF you do receive a card contact Royal Mail Fraud on 02 7239 6655.Regards,Keith Shaw.
ReplyDeleteThere must be something wrong in our society that people can get up to such tricks AND get away with it.A bit of Saudi type justice ought to sort it out - but who has the guts these days??????

Don

ReplyDeleteKeith Shaw.

Best leave him on the outside Don that’s where it really hurts. Just ignore the scams
Whilst on the subject of scams it would be amiss of me not enlighten members here of my own personnel experiences regarding another type of scam recently. Whilst looking for somewhere to park in Tesco’s I came upon the only parking space available, which was next to a silver VW Golf with an African type person sitting behind the steering wheel. After locking my car door and going to the boot the driver then got out of his vehicle and started remonstrating with me. He said I had damaged his vehicle and that I would have to pay for the damage! Knowing this was a 'con' I couldn't help but laugh initially but then he proceeded to show me a dent in his car's door with paint missing! I knew this was just not possible because he was parked facing outward and I was parked facing inward i.e. both car doors opened from different directions. I then unlocked my car door and opened it fully showing him that it was a good 12 inches away from the damage he was trying to show me! This just enraged him even further, as he tried wrenching my car door off its hinges but still it didn't fit the evidence! Enough was enough as far as I was concerned and as I locked the car again I told him I was going to get Security. Sure enough, by the time we returned he was gone and I've never heard another word since!
ReplyDeleteI guess the moral of this scam is if you see the only parking space available and its next to a silver VW Golf with an ‘Idi Amin’ look-a-like behind the wheel?..... Then there’s a bloody good reason why nobody's taken it!
And don't forget all these "do-gooders"are getting rich looking after the crooks!

Another Scam - Smart car draws up to kerb, occupant lets down window and asks for directions to the Airport. Smartly dressed gent, of shall we say Middle Eastern appearance. Waft of expensive after-shave, or what-have-you. Thanks one for the directions given, then it appears he has been to a Trade Fair, and needs to return the car to the hire company at the Airport, but has used up his Sterling currency, only has Swiss Francs or whatever. He produces what appears to be a smart leather jacket, or alternatively a Breitling watch, and if you would be kind enough to buy it from him, you can have it at less than trade price, and he will have enough sterling to pay the hire charge. There are other variations on this theme, but do not fall for this very plausible gent's tale as the goods turn out to be c--p and he is away with your cash!
ReplyDeleteComputer expert jailed for 18 months after hacking into people's computers:
ReplyDeleteHe sent out tens of millions of spam e-mails to computers around the world from the PC in his mother's front room in the Scottish Highlands. When the victims opened an attachment in the emails it released a virus - enabling him to make changes from his machine. In an online conversation with another hacker, Anderson boasted how he had secretly filmed one of his victims bursting into tears. He wrote: 'Changed her screen about a bit and she started to cry lol'
Judge Geoffrey Rivlin QC accepted Anderson had only made £12,000 from his hacking activities through selling e-mail addresses to an associate as business leads.Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1332336/Computer-expert-Matthew-Anderson-jailed-hacking-peoples-webcams.html
Goes to show Don, £12,000 for just passing on a few email address!..... and I'll bet he'll be doing just the same while he's in nick, courtesy of HMG's British Justice above.
The money is nothing in comparison to the damage he did to all those peoples health and faith in human nature.Another case where Saudi justice would have cured the problem!!!Cold blooded as ice these days!!!!
