Hi Brian I go to I.T. and we are using it their and I find it much easier to get on with and I'm hoping my wife has taken the hint. All the Best Brian Merry Xmas @ A Happy ,Health New Year.
Here is LINK for you to read and make up your own mind.http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/ but be wary, I belive it crashed a couple of days ago and they had to issue a fix for it. so if your not to clued up on puters (like me) id"e hold back for awhile, and it should be cheaper to upgrade after Xmas. Paddy H
Thanks to all for the info. Paddy "H"will take a look. One old guy I was talking too in a `puter shop was pleased with his and said"It goes like S%$T off a shovel." On about Christmas,I am sending cards this year to close family only. With the cash I save, am making a donation to my local charity, So MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL. Grumps
I have been using 7 for nearly a year as a beta. My son is an IT manager and also tests for Microsoft. It is a very stable and user friendly has a whole host of benefits, Including XP compatibility, However it is different and you will need to relearn how to do some stuff. Also please also understand I use this as a business tool so don’t get involved in some of the fancy stuff you guys do with photos and video, all I can say is so far it has been stable and worked well. Suppose the test is would I change back the answer is no. Regards Adrian
For Jim Paul. Don't buy it. I can get it through the NATO system, at a significant discount. Will find out on Monday just how much. I want it and will get you one. Regards Ian
Well! Thats fine.My reason for changing is because my present machine has been unreliable in many functions for a long time and it's about time to dump it. So, now we have advice saying that M7 is great, it might be great ,stay with what you've got, go for it etc etc. talk about being confused. Even more confused than before we asked the question.
What a sensible young man our Grumps is, just sending xmas cards to his family only and giving his money to charity, and so A MERRY XMAS TO Mr & Mrs Grumps, also to all members of the Royal Dragoons site.
Thanks,Ian,see what comes along. John, did a similar thing a few years ago,no PCs then, but now on the *JACQUIELAWSON* site I can send some super cards. Only about £8.00 for a years conscription, loads of different kind of dates to choose from, not only birthdays and Chrismas.I YOU do not get one I have not got your mailing address. Merry Crimbo.
Ah,now I know why we all last so long these days, hearing aids, new knees and hips, false and implanted teeth, silicon in yer vital places, face lifts, wigs, and if you want to be hippy rings and things in all manner of places!Just remember, its not how old you are,but how young you feel! Creak - creak (thats me getting up) ------ Don
I was going to comment on the above but I'm a bit pushed for time. I've got a date in the local sports hall for a game of Badminton followed by a half-hour work-out in the Gym. Sigh Paddy
Ah Paddy, bet you "oil" the joints after the workout. But it is important for us oldies to keep moving - movement is the spice of life,on the odd occasion where I can't take my hike the wife says I mooch around as miserable as sin looking for something to do,never was like that in my young(er) days! ------ Don
From a computer Engineer.... me, it is the best Microsoft have produced. it is what Vista should have been, but don't get the cheapest go for the best your wife can afford,,,,, it will load in less than a minute and unload about the same time, it is very stable, uses the memory better, if fact better all round. Syd
I have just changed to a wireless laptop with Windows 7, and I must say that I am very impressed. Have had it a week now and so far none of the problems reported earlier. Go for it Brian. TIS
When designing Windows7 Microsoft went back to basics by asking end-users what they expected from their computer......hence the new "2nd time around" memory version Bri.
If you're happy with your "1st time around" ....... don't mess with the memory Bri!!!!!!!!!
I am now the proud posessor of a new computor which has Micro 7. I made it known some time ago that I intended getting one ,as you will have seen on this site and Lo! and Behold! on Christmas day the big fat bloke with the beard dressed in red delivered one to my door, not down the chimney,as you would expect. Well it wasn't quite like that but the thing is sitting there in my living room daring me to plug it in and get going I'll need to psych myself up before I attack it and just wondering how many Jameisons it will take to give me the nerve to set to. Ian, thanks for your offer which I wont be able to take up. Paddy
Good luck with your new toy Paddy, the nerveracking part is when you have to change from dial-up broadband to wireless. My BT line finishes tomorrow and I just hope Orange are on the ball!!!! We shall see. If nothing is heard from me after today, you'll know what the problem is. TIS
Well my absence for the next few days are because I'm living it up in Berlin for the New Year and a few days.So I do hope you all have a good time, and knowing you are old soldiers I know you won't let the firm down.Off tomorrow at 0500hrs - YES -0500hrs!!!!! ------- Don
A Happy New Year to one and all, have a good time Don, don't overdo it. Back to my previous reply to Paddy, I am now a fully signed up member of the wireless internet society having been successfully connected by help from Orange. Paddy, don't try to do it on your own. TIS
Hi Brian Long time no comment from me,as my first second hand computer gave up the will ro live, So i went mad and and bought a new computer last week with windows 7, for me its just the job, Iam finding it quite easy to use so far so good. Best Regards to you and Rose Ray Brown.
