Good to see a picture of a Champ, I used to drive one at Wesendorf in 1954. I notice the fellows are wearing webbing belts, in my day we wore stable belts when in short sleeve order; perhaps there were exceptions, the memory is not too clever these days.
It's good to see a picture of a Champ, I enjoyed driving one at Wesendorf in 1954. I notice in this and other pictures that fellows in short-sleeve order are not wearing stable belts. I feel certain that webbing belts were not worn in my day but then my memory is not too clever.
Excellent set of photos, although the only name I recognise is Sgt.Acres, who taught some of our lads to drive at Wolfenbuttel. We had a Matador in B.Sqn but it had no gun mounted, and was used for a Command vehicle. Tpr.Hubble was the driver and it was a hair raising experience to see him back into the garage with his foot hard down! Harold.
Ah Champs,PD Reid would "recover"anything that moved with one of these,"swam" one over the Weser once.As for stable belts,as I recall they were for "barrack order"only.Jerry Acres was a great family friend of ours! ------ Don
I recognise my best mate Scouser Sam Crew we said we would meet up again when one of us owned a Rolls well one can have dreams,he is 3rd in the the front row on the left
Hi all, just got back from me hols - had a great time, ate too much, much to do around the garden so will be a bit quiet(did I hear a sigh of relief)for the next few days.Best wishes to all, hope you are all keeping well. ----------- Don
Welcome back Don, pleased to see that you had a good time, that's the trouble with gardens everything keeps growing while your away and it takes longer to get it back into shape again.
