Hiya Sue,nice of you to come onboard, I knew Gerry for awhile before he left the Regt,coming from Cork myself,he was also good mates with Paddys O"Dwyer and Barrett, I spoke to Gerry by Email awhile back as he was a great supporter of the Black & Amber (Killkenny) I am sure he would be well pleased to know you joined up here. i remember gerry very well,he was quite a character on the old piano,sadly he passed away shortly after i managed to get in touch with him through forces reunited he went to live in italy i believe there were a couple of pics of him too,he used to take the micky out of me something shocking imitating my yorkshire accent.rip gerry.

to answer some of your questions,yes he did move to italy in dec 2005,i'm an only child,well at least thats what i was led to believe all these years!!!!!!!!!! about dads regiment i not very well up on this bit but i remember him telling me that he was in the royal dragoons then they ammalcamated with the blues,he was in germany(detmold,in 1970 ,i was born there)and in cyprus ,he left the regiment in 1972. yes i'm sure he'd be delighted to know i'm on this sight,growing up with him was like living in the army!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I knew Gerry quite well as he was my tank cmdr in Detmold 1966 onwards.A great guy with a sense of humour,a smile for all and the pipe that never seemed to leave his mouth glad your on the sight. Regards Chris Rose
Hello Suzanne. I am sorry to hear about you're dad Gerry i served with him in Germany in Detmold he was a great guy always ready for a laugh he always seemed joined at the hip with Paddy O'Dwer . I can truly say he was one of the nicest people i have ever met, he will be sadly missed but always remembered.
