As we look back, yes we did get dirty & greasy and complained most of the time.
ReplyDeleteNow as I reflect, I'd loved to get my bum in that seat again!

Having seen the pics of the drivers compartment Iwas surprised at how much the controls have changed. If you look at a Challenger drivers' controls it's all fly by wire the steering levers are the same size as a Ferret's gear lever spoilt or what.

I'm beginning to feel rather home sick, dirty, smelly, and damn right dangerous, but it's making me feel rather nostalgic for the old days. When men were men and the sheep were nervous.
ReplyDeleteNot really related to the Cent. comments above. BUT.
ReplyDeleteWe had Tp. Ldr. in Ipoh. 2nd. or 3rd. Tp. C Sqn. Lt.. Lanarck- Jones Seconded from RAAC.
He used to take us out on foot, into the "Ulu" for 3 or 4 days. Many a time we found we had been slashing thru! the undergrowth for hours, only to find a track 20m. on our left or right. ( He knew where we were)
He also took us in our FSC. to the beach camp at Lumut. I have photos somewhere.
Regards Doug.
