It’s not, for instance, foolish to set out without an umbrella if the sky is clear and the forecast benign, even if a freak shower later causes us to regret that decision.
Best take one with you just in case.... In logic anyway.
Re DRESS,****Blazer,Grey trousers Beret, medals may be worn,This message is from our Chaplain as she says it would look realy good if those that had the gear could wear it,makes sense to me. Please note during the Service there will be a Wreath/Poppy and crosses laying ceremony, bring your own Wreaths,Poppies and Crosses can be bought in the site shop. Lets make this a GUD UN. Bri.
Stan, NO WAY,wonder if I dare wear the slouch hat with the corks?,realy DINKYDI.Any our walking out dress did not include the Bowler. I am sure I have seen in an OLD news reel where some Guards or Cavalrymen were being drilled in how to use the brolly, and raising the bowler when meeting an officer, going give it a good google. Bri
I remember being told by pre WW11 blokes that they were obliged to wear bowlers when booking out of barracks, a practice which wasn't very popular as it showed that they were squaddies , so each found a hiding place a bit away from the barracks where he left his bowler and collected it when returning to barracks. Paddy.
Ok lads having just read through this post,I am not sure just what the order of dress is if any, Firstly I don't have a blazer with 105 eagle embroidered on, nor grey flannels. I do have a couple of suits I wear for the odd happy or sad occasions, I do have a bowler and brolly but I have never worn the bowler to reunions but have used the brolly because it was wet, quite frankly I feel uncomfortable in a bowler as I think I look like Ronny Corbet without the accent, but I will comply with any order of dress (as long as its not A DRESS lol. My plan was casual on Sat evening, and lounge suit for the NMA on Sun So to avoid any embarrassment, I respectfully await your order of dress Sir. --------------------------------------------------------- Michael Henchion (Paddy)
Paddy casual dress for SATURDAY. SUIT or BLAZER for the NMA. bring your BOWLER and BROLLY mate dont want to be on my own..mind there is no order of dress as such..on SATURDAY wear whatever you feel compy in so lond as its not your birthday suit
Don't forget that John has gotta have something to pin the ID card to!!!!Wife says just like Army days again with me bulling shoes and pressing trousers!I always had to have a special size in berets,so no chance of a Bowler big enough to accomodate my brain box!Should we bring wellies?Never go anywhere without my brolley and a bit of tissue paper! ------ Don
Thanks for the forecast Bri, never can rely on the TV ones. Will have to search out my beret and clean my capbadge, I know I've them somewhere???? Look forward to seeing you all. Now who is it that owes me pints????....lol Myself, John Matthew and Miriam, plus Dave Bramble will be there by this time next week. Gonna do a recce and pinch the best bunks, and sample the beer. Anyone else getting there on the Friday? TIS
