  11. Dont think african greys ever made it to the menu, but are nicked because of value, only the west africans trapped them and took their red feathers for their own adornmant and sold them on for the pet trade which is now banned, only African Greys bred in this country are and can be sold for the pet trade.......

  12. My daughter once had an African Grey,it got loose one day, flew through a factory skylight, and production stopped for a couple of hours till they caught the beast.

  13. All this talk about hunting and shooting reminds me that Autumn is almost upon us when it will be open season for bagging a few Haggis. You have to be out really early on a frosty morning to get the best of them.

  14. you breed foxes then[ call them vermin]so that a pack of hounds can tare them to bits and YOU call it sport,
and you breed birds so that you can blast them out of the sky.
in my eyes you are not sportsmen just COWARDS as you know that your prey can not fight back

  20. Pheasnts cost on average with wages feed heating £35 per bird, a Tesco chicken costs to the £0.50p to the farmer it has lived 13 weeks, the pheasant has at least has a chance, as for foxes in town they are vermin stealing pets spreading mange, ripping open bin bags, i have never been brainwashed by horse& hound, or by pro horse lobby, take it from me asEstate Manager i deal with farming issues daily as with forestry,my horse sports has nothing to do with what i think on issues that effect my working of this Estate and Farm, there are more important issues that effect this land and country not something that is derisive and cunning to make an argument which is political and can be twisted to ones own agenda, then it has nothing to do with the countryside its personal

  21. is there a bit of green in my eye?a pheasant is no more & no less than a chicken I've been there done that. as for vermin so are rats but the farmers seldom combat those.nor do the local councils to any effect its too expensive.by the way the kings troop & drummers have been using synthetic pelts for many a year. and as for twisting the argument that seems exactly what your doing

  28. The hunting and shooting subject is a very emotive one and therefore most people have opinions which vary enormously. Personally I think that to hunt or shoot an animal is in the nature of things. However it is only acceptable if it is done in a humane way with respect for the quarry. I am partial to a Venison steak or a brace of Pheasants, but I would hope that either was killed in a quick and painless way and for the reason of food. What I do find dispicable is the killing of animals for so- called sport and I despise those who get pleasure in the ACT of killing or causing suffering to any animal.

  31. Paddy,
I think you echo the feelings of most of us,over here if the venison and wildschwein were not kept under control by the hunters they would decimate the crops, and they cause great damage to the young trees in a cold winter. An emotional subject I think!
