Hi all, I have an example in my collection, which is hallmarked 1898. The eBay example pre-dates the sanctioning of the Royals badge in 1898 so it must be a 15th Hussars badge. However, the Royals wore an embroidered version prior to 1898, but unofficially. I believe a few Victorian examples were still in use when I was at Detmold & I remember 'Bronco' Lane, when he was in the Blues & Royals, showing me an example that one of the senior ncos had given to him in Detmold & that was also hallmarked 1898. I have had mine for 20 years & paid about £100 - not a bad investment. Hope this is of interest. Bandrat.
Who is going to buy it
