I have booked 2 rooms & found that they were only taking bookings for two nights, not one night only. Apparently their computer allocates rooms to a certain number of nights & all the one night rooms were booked. However, the receptionist was really helpful & managed to book the two nights & then amend the booking to one night only. If you have the same problem when booking you might suggest they do the same for you and amend it to get around their system??
I have only just got back a couple of days ago from a short break and had not considered booking yet,so if only 6 rooms left minus Irene"s 2 leaves 4 How many of those rooms have been booked by our people,if its only a handfull and the rest of the hotel is booked up by other people whats the point of useing it for the reunion if the most of us have to stay somewhere else, does anyone have the numbers of our people that has allready booked. ---------------------------------------- Paddy Henchion
the members were asked to inform JOHN ATKINS when they had booked in.and he made a list .if other members have not informed him .we can not guess. and i do not think that the INN will give us a list of names?
I fully agree with you Denis, not off to a good start are we. I dont think many of our people would have booked yet just have to wait and see.. -------------
I have checked my list and I have 19 confirmed that they have booked the Premier Inn for the reunion next year, now according to the information that I have received today they have told those that have phoned them that they are only taking bookings for 2 nights, for some reason they have now decided that they can only book a certain number of rooms for one night, now I am not very happy about this as I am sure that the Premier did well out of us at the last reunion we had there and I will have to get in touch with them and complain about the way they are treating us on this.
hi all i used to work for premier inn till i retired there polocy is it they know that a lot of rooms will be sold at at any on time they will put a 2 night restriction on all there rooms all you need to do is book your room wait a day go on line with your ref no and canx 1 night it will be done onthere comp we use to do it all the time for mates steve
I have been in touch this morning with the manageress of the Premier I nn and I have informed them that we are not happy that they are only taking bookings for two nights, I was told that there five (5) rooms left and if you would get in touch direct with the Premier Inn Lichfield on 08709906438 and ask for Alex or Lisa and they will book you in for one (1) night only. I pointed out that I thought that they had good takings on the last reunion and she said she would not disagree with that , so now it is up to members to get in touch ASP if they want to be successful in getting a room there.
Hi all, just to let you know I have just booked a room for one night at the hotel. They still have a few rooms left although they couldn't say exactly how many. They will book you in for 2 nights and then amend the booking straight away to show it for one night ( as mentioned above ). Good luck one and all! John S
Hellow John A You say there are 19 of our people booked in and there is only a few rooms left, the last reunion attendance was about 80 people that means 3/4 of people cant book at the hotel,I spoke to a few people at last reunion who did"nt get a room at primier inn and had to fork out £30/40 for taxi"s to get back to the hotels they stayed at because of the drink/drive risk.Dont you think it would make more sence to get a hotel that can cater for everyone, rather than putting this extra cost on people. at least it would keep everyone under one roof. Paddy Henchion
Hi Paddy, I understand what you are saying but we have not yet been able to find one that is convenient for everyone in that area, It may be possible to find somewhere close to the Premier that could possibly take a number of members who could then get a minbus and share the cost that way, I know of one couple who found a B&B that was only ten minutes taxi ride from the venue so I think if you look around on the internet you may find that you do not have to book a room so far away that it is going to cost you £30/40 to get to the venue.
Paddy, After reading your post again you seem to be under the impression that 3/4 of the members had to book elsewhere and you also say that there were 80 people there this year, i think you will find that the figure was nearer 60 and adding the wives on the rooms which would make it that there were not that many that had to stay elsewhere.
Sorry John if i did"nt make myself clear, most of our people were able to book the inn for the previous reunion, what i said is if 19 are booked in for 2010 and most of the rooms are gone, based on the numbers for 2009 be it 60/80 most of our people wont be able to book the inn which could effect the number of people wanting to attend . Paddy H
Paddy, At the time of posting there was 19 booked in but since then I have had confirmation of more people that have booked into the Premier for next years reunion, I have had a recount and now we have 24 that have confirmed bookings for next year but I cannot say whether anyone else has booked in which are our members as I was informed by the Premier that there were still 5 rooms and since then I have had comfirmation from Ted Wort's daughter and Frank Sullivan's son who have booked Ted 2 and Frank1, Ray Brown1, and Reg Browns ,Daughter 1, this is an up to date list that I have, and so all I can say is if people do not inform me there is not much that I can say or do about it.
MIKE . JOHN & MYSELF found another venue at the begining of this years reunion in B-O-T but the members wanted to be near the NMA so that is why we go back to the PREMIER INN
Ok Denis but why not try and go one better for 2010 I just had a quick look and seen this, Express Holiday Inn 10 mins up the A 38 in Burton 80 rooms double room £40 with breakfast.half what premier are charging. If you were to mention booking 30/40 rooms 12 mths ahead they would probabley bite your hand off for the buisness. and it would keep everyone together under one roof and cut the cost by half surely its all about getting the best deal for our people as im sure there not all minted
Rooms booked by our members that have confirmed to me is 24, if anyone has booked that has not confirmed so that I can add them to my list please do so as it may help others to know how many rooms are possibly left that they may get booked in there.
Mike i checked out that express hotel last year rooms were a tad cheaper than the PREM but they would only put on Buffet for 10 quid per head and the room was 129 quid there were other extras but cant remember what they were...i dont think we will get any better than the PREM
Last night I went on to the Premier booking site to find out how many rooms were still vacant, I tried by trying to book four rooms and it came up that it was still possible but for 2 nights if I put in 1 night it said none available so if anyone wants to book in for one night phone and ask for Alex or Lisa and say it is for the reunion and they will book you for 1 night, if not do what Slingerjp suggests in his post on here.
mike keep taking the pills,,read the comments on the bb,,the penny will drop. all John wants to know is the names of members that are going to the REUNION so at the end of the day he can arrange the Grub stakes
I just hope that all the lads who have booked in have informed JOHN ATKINS
