Eddy my old mate remember Lt Chamberlyn and a certain boxing match? And we had a good night in that pub in Hackney hey my old mate glad to here you ok Sack
I remember a boxing match where Eddy fought ??? Maybe I've got the wrong opponent in mind, but it was some performance from both protagonists. I don't know who won but they were both deserving of a trophy. Paddy
I remember once "milling" with Sammy Simpson and gave the Sqn quite a laugh as we had a job to make contact! Do they still do this in the modern army? ----- Don
Eddy fought Lt Chamberlyn and i had told eddy he could not punch to hard, well i got that wrong but it was a hell of a scrap.Mind you the best fight i saw was Bobby Salisbury and the "Hook." My old troop leader Cpt Lockhart.I spoke to him after he had lost to Bob and he was pleased to surrender his title.
Yes ,I remember most of those. But for style and class nobody could beat the one I've got in mind . Tom Howley. He was much older than the chaps ypu mentioned and I remember when he was a Cpl. 'C' Sqn. Arms Storeman ln Wolfenbuttle. he took a number of us for training prior to the annual novice matches. He then entered the Open matches and fought one or two grades above his weight more as a demonstration than a match. His son joined the regiment. I wonder where he is?. Paddy
Hiya Eddy. Ive still got the photo (Pre amalgamation) of you stood in front of the Regtl sign outside RHQ Block in Full Royals No ! dress, complete with helmet. And recently Notty Notridge, Pixie Rixon Pete Plumb and me had our mini Recce Tp reunion at the Royals reunion organised by John Matthews. Oh Happy Days. Best Wishes and welcome Tiger
Welcome Sgt, Its true about RECCE TROOP we do find ourselves home eventually. As Tiger says we had a great Recce Reunion at NMA. Yes your name was mentioned a few times. I raise a glass and look forward to hearing from you. Colin A Rixon Pixie191
Well I never!!! I never expected so many memories on one page. ITS LIKE BEING ASLEEP AND WAKING UP AFTER 40 YEARS. I look forward to sharing so many more . When i sort out some of my photos i'll be posting them on the site . They cover Wessendorf .,Aden, Malaya, Singapore ( including the Christmas party at my house which lasted to New Years day).
I remember Tony Craig/Rancavich very well , he and his wife lived next door to me in Max Born Strasse, Lemgo. I remember when I found out he was moving in, several people said he could be a bit of trouble and had a reputation. We ended up as good friends, went out drinking together and in my opinion he was an absolute gentleman. If anyones in contact with him I'd be pleased to have the details
Tony was a good fighter in and out of the ring. But the two best light heavy,s where Bobby Salsbury and Cpt Lockwood what a great fight that was second only to Paddy Barret and Taffy cox.Heavy weight how about Bob Moon one punch and Terry Neafsey was over and out.
Is this he who was sometime Troop Sgt. Recce Troop in Detmold?
