  3. Denis, Can't remember his name, but the Royal who died at Pau, France on a course with the French Paras, in the early 60s.   I pass by Pau frequently with my work.   But always give him a nod.   Ian

  11. Must say it hits you reading all those names of dearly departed,I can see most of them in my minds eye,one of them was a great poker player and Friday nights he sat next to me till the early hours!God bless them all,great guys,great times! ---- Don

  14. Taffy Shearn,ex Trumpett Major Royal Dragoons, passed away while still on active service with the rank of COH Blues and Royals.   Could be wrong,can anyone enlighten me?

Taffy "David" Shearn receiving Long service medal???.Jim knows the story better than I but he was a Student Bandmaster at Knellar Hall when stricken with ???.He stayed on at the School as the instrument storeman and also the museum curator. He  was a good musician and would have attained great heights had he not passed away.I believe he won several awards while at the School.   I used to baby sit his two children while in Detmold.His wife I believe still lives near Twickenham.

  16. Sorry about your name on the attachment of Taffy Shearn Jim but I have it in my library as one that you had sent to RHG/Band.   I also belive Ken Stevens may have still been serving when he contracted Cancer. Can you confirm this?

  24. Sadly I remember Tpr Rowntree well,I was in the DAC with him when the accident happened.A young life snuffed out before it had properly started.Remember the day as clear as yesterday.   Don.

  25. If my memory is correct Tpr Withers was tragically killed in a road accident outside Wesendorf ,I saw his headstone in the war cemetery in Hanover in1982
